Un verdadero producto multiusos / A true multiuse product

Hola/Hi there!

Rather than actual nuts, soap nuts, are berries that grow on the Sapindus Mukorossi tree from India and Nepal and which naturally contain soapy properties when in contact with water. They’re obviously natural and biodegradable, and they’re mainly used to wash clothes.

When these soap nuts are ground and filtered, they turn into a Saponina powder which is both pure and concentrated. Just as with soap nuts, when the powder comes into contact with water, it turns into a soapy like solution. To me, the difference between the nuts and the powder is that the latter has more uses and it´s easy to use, whereas the nuts need to be boiled first.

This soapnut powder has 7 main uses, as you can see in the picture below:

As is indicated in the picture, you can use the powder to:

  1. Clean your ceramic hob by spreading a bit on it and using a wet sponge afterwards (warm or hot water is always better).
  2. Wash clothes: put a tea spoon directly into either the washing machine or the detergent compartment. Recommended temperature of the water: 30 degrees.
  3. Handwash….Clothes: depending on the amount of clothes you can use 1 or 1/2 tea spoon in a recipient together with hot water to produce a soapy solution… Dishes: just spread a little amount of the powder onto a wet sponge, squeeze to produce foam.
  4. Do the dishes: put a tea spoon into the detergent compartment of the dishwasher.
  5. Clean wooden furniture: just like when handwashing clothes, you need to make a soapy solution in a recipient by adding 1/2 a tea spoon of the powder to warm/hot water. Then, wet a clean cloth and wring before applying.
  6. Mop the floor: Add 1 tea spoon to hot water in the bucket.
  7. Bathroom and toilet by adding 1 tea spoon to hot water and here you can also add a tea spoon of citric acid (this is the only mix I haven’t tried yet).
